Who We Are

Redhill Motor and Cycle Works was opened on the Brighton Road in Redhill in the 1920/30s, by my great uncle and maternal grandfather, Alfred and Sydney Brown.
Going from strength to strength in the golden age of motorcycling to opening branches in Maidstone, Brighton, Lewes, Epsom and East Grinstead.

Maidstone, Brighton and Lewes branches carried on through the family with Tony Brown running Brighton and Lewes, Dorothy Norris (Brown) and John Norris running the Maidstone branch. Main dealers for BSA, Triumph, Sunbeam, Levis, Excelsior, Royal Enfield, Rudge, Ariel, James, Matchless, AJS, Vincent and Norton; with Japanese marques Suzuki and Honda in the later years.

Redhill Motors (Maidstone) Ltd was opened in 1937 on the Broadway just on the west of the old bridge, selling bikes, accessories, spares, helmets and clothing. Trading on the broadway until the 1970’s when the new bridge and road system was developed.

Redhill Motors moved to UpperStone Street continuing with Honda Motorcycles sales and servicing and latterly Honda Car sales, eventually closing in the 1980s.
